What Can Cause an SUV To Flip During a Two-Vehicle Crash?
SUV rollover accidents can happen during crashes involving sudden impact, high speeds, or sharp changes in direction. Because SUVs sit higher off the ground than many passenger cars, they may be more likely to tip during certain types of collisions.
Intersections are common locations for these crashes due to crossing traffic and turning vehicles. A side impact or contact near a vehicle’s wheels can sometimes cause enough force to overturn an SUV, especially when combined with uneven road surfaces or sudden steering movements.
After a rollover accident, emergency crews often work to secure the scene before vehicles can be removed. Traffic delays are also common while damaged vehicles are cleared and road conditions are checked. In many cases, investigators later review vehicle positions, roadway markings, and witness statements to better understand how the collision occurred.
