Why Rollover Crashes on Interchanges Often Lead to Injuries
Rollover crashes on highway interchanges can happen when vehicles take curves at higher speeds or make sudden steering corrections. These areas often involve merging traffic, elevation changes, and tighter ramps compared to straight highway sections.
When a vehicle rolls over, occupants may experience multiple impacts as the vehicle rotates or slides across the roadway. This can increase the likelihood of injury, even when seatbelts are used. Investigators typically review speed, lane changes, and roadway design to understand how the rollover occurred. Traffic volume and road conditions at the time of the crash may also be examined as part of the investigation.
