Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common in multi-vehicle crashes like this one?
These crashes frequently cause whiplash, head and neck injuries, broken bones and cuts from broken glass or shifting debris, depending on where and how hard each vehicle was struck.
What usually causes collisions involving several vehicles on a freeway?
Common causes include sudden braking, following too closely, lane changes made without enough clearance, and drivers who do not react in time to slowing traffic ahead.
Does speed make a difference in how severe a crash is?
Yes. Higher speeds mean more distance needed to stop and more force at the moment of impact, which raises the odds of serious injury for everyone involved.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky?
A driver looking at a phone or otherwise not watching the road can miss slowing or stopped traffic until it is too late to avoid a collision.
