Why Do Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Lead to Severe Outcomes?
Routes carrying regional traffic near Interstate 10 and Crenshaw Boulevard can experience sudden delays after major collisions. In Los Angeles, crews often work to clear hazards while managing heavy traffic flow.
Crashes involving several vehicles can increase the force and complexity of impact. One collision may trigger additional impacts, especially on busy freeways where vehicles travel at higher speeds and follow closely behind one another.
Lane closures can extend response times and create backups, adding pressure to an already active scene. The combination of speed, traffic density, and limited space often contributes to more serious outcomes in these types of incidents.
