What Risks Are Common in Urban Motorcycle Crashes?
Busy city streets, such as Central Avenue, often feature a mix of moving vehicles, parked cars, and turning traffic. In areas such as Los Angeles, these conditions can increase the chances of sudden conflicts between drivers and motorcyclists.
Motorcycles are smaller and can be harder for drivers to see, especially in areas with frequent stops and lane changes. Parked vehicles may also limit visibility, making it more difficult for drivers to notice approaching riders.
When a crash happens in a dense urban setting, multiple vehicles or roadside objects may become involved. The close spacing of cars and limited room to maneuver can make it more difficult to avoid an impact once a collision begins.
