Frequently Asked Questions
How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk on freeways like I-10?
Wet pavement, glare, and heavy traffic flow can all reduce a driver's ability to react in time, especially in dense urban corridors where lanes merge or narrow unexpectedly.
What should someone do immediately after a crash on a busy freeway?
Drivers should move to the shoulder if possible, turn on hazard lights, check for injuries, and call 911. Staying inside the vehicle with a seatbelt on is safer than standing near moving traffic until help arrives.
Where do most freeway crashes tend to happen?
Collisions frequently cluster near on-ramps, off-ramps, and interchanges, where vehicles are merging, slowing, or changing lanes at different speeds.
What are common injuries in two-vehicle freeway crashes?
Occupants commonly report neck and back strain, head injuries, and broken bones, depending on the speed and angle of impact.
