Why Freeway Motorcycle Crashes Often Turn Deadly
Motorcycle crashes on freeways can be especially severe due to high speeds and limited rider protection. Even a minor impact or loss of control can cause a rider to be thrown into traffic lanes, increasing the risk of secondary collisions. Visibility at night and sudden lane changes can also contribute to motorcycle incidents on freeways.
Investigators typically review roadway conditions, nearby traffic, and vehicle positions to understand how the collision occurred. In cases involving unknown vehicles, authorities may rely on freeway cameras, witness accounts, and vehicle debris to identify what happened before and after the impact. Speed, lane position, and reaction time are also key factors considered during the investigation.
