Los Feliz, CA (January 19, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision on the Golden State (5) Freeway early Sunday morning left one person dead and another injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash was reported around 3:20 a.m. on the northbound side of I-5 at Los Feliz Blvd. Authorities stated that several vehicles became involved in the collision for reasons that are still under investigation.
CHP officers and fire personnel responded to the scene and confirmed that one individual was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. At least one other person sustained injuries, though the severity was not immediately disclosed.
In the aftermath of the accident, all northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were shut down for over three hours to allow for emergency operations and crash scene analysis. The freeway was later reopened after debris removal and preliminary investigations were completed.
Officials are continuing to review evidence and interview witnesses as they work to determine what caused the fatal collision.
