Springs, CA (August 25, 2026) – At least one person suffered major injuries on Sunday, August 23, in a collision at Blossom Valley Road and Flinn Springs Road near Flinn Springs. It happened around 11:21 a.m.

A white Ford pickup and a white sedan were involved, according to initial reports. One person complained of pain in an ankle and arm, and the classification was later upgraded to a major injury.

One of the vehicles struck a chain-link fence, causing about 20 feet of damage and knocking down four metal poles. One patient was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital by medics.

Westbound lanes were closed between Blossom Valley Road and Flinn Springs Road while crews responded, and two tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles.

The road has since reopened. We hope for a full recovery for everyone involved.

Why Do Vehicles Sometimes Strike Fences After Leaving the Road?

When a vehicle leaves the roadway and strikes a fixed object such as a chain-link fence, the outcome depends on speed and the angle of impact. A fence itself typically offers little resistance and can be knocked down easily, but the vehicle usually continues traveling until something sturdier, like a pole footing or embankment, brings it to a stop.

Rural roads like Blossom Valley Road wind through hilly terrain with limited shoulder space, giving drivers less room to correct course if a vehicle drifts off the pavement. Damaged property along roadways, including fencing and utility poles, is a common secondary consequence of such incidents.

Injury classifications can change as more information becomes available, since initial calls rely on limited details from witnesses or the injured parties themselves. A complaint of pain in a specific area, like an ankle or arm, doesn’t always indicate the full extent of an injury until medical professionals can complete a full evaluation.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
