Yuba City, CA (August 31, 2026) – A major injury crash involving multiple vehicles was reported Saturday, August 29, at the northbound Interstate 99 interchange with Bogue Road in Yuba City.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, approximately four vehicles were involved in the collision. The initial reports indicated a Dodge pickup and a silver sedan were involved, with one vehicle on its side. CHP later reported that a silver Impala ran a red light and was struck by the pickup.

The entire intersection was blocked while emergency crews responded, and a driver was reported to be receiving assistance getting out of a vehicle. The crash was later classified as a major-injury collision. All lanes were eventually reopened, and crews remained in the area for a roadway cleanup.

We extend our thoughts to everyone affected by this crash and wish those injured a full and steady recovery.

What Makes Multi-Vehicle Crashes Especially Dangerous?

When several vehicles are involved in a collision, the initial impact can quickly lead to additional crashes as motorists react to sudden changes in traffic. Drivers may have little time to stop when a vehicle unexpectedly enters their path. Maintaining a safe speed and leaving enough following distance can provide more time to respond.

Intersections and freeway ramps require particular attention because traffic can approach from several directions. Drivers should obey traffic signals and check carefully for vehicles before proceeding through an intersection. Even when a signal changes, motorists should remain alert for drivers who may not stop as expected.

A crash can leave disabled vehicles, debris, and emergency personnel across multiple lanes. Drivers approaching an active scene should reduce their speed and follow temporary traffic controls rather than attempting to maneuver around obstacles abruptly. Giving responders adequate space also helps them reach injured people and clear the roadway safely.
