Jacksonville, NC (June 9, 2026) – A man was found dead following an early morning house fire in the Midway Park area near Jacksonville. The fire was reported on Monday, June 8.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office stated that emergency crews responded around 4:36 a.m. to a home on Savage Ct off Lake Cole Road. When firefighters arrived, the residence was fully engulfed in flames as crews began working to control the fire.
Officials said firefighters later conducted a primary search of the home and found 79-year-old Douglas Alan Hill deceased inside the residence. Authorities confirmed no other people were inside the home at the time of the fire, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
