Safety Considerations for Nontraditional Vehicles on Roadways
People using mobility devices, electric carts, and other nontraditional forms of transportation may face additional risks when traveling near motor vehicles. Visibility, roadway position, traffic speed, and driver awareness can all affect safety.
Drivers should remain alert for unexpected roadway users, especially near shoulders, intersections, and heavy-traffic areas. People operating smaller vehicles can improve safety by using visible equipment and choosing routes that reduce exposure to faster-moving traffic. Sharing the road requires attention from everyone involved, as smaller vehicles may be harder to notice and may not offer the same protection as standard passenger vehicles. Awareness and caution can help reduce the chance of serious roadway accidents.
