Naples, NY (July 3, 2026) – A 71-year-old man and his two dogs were killed, while four other people were injured, including one woman who remains in critical condition, following a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon in Naples.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3:42 p.m. on July 1 to County Road 12 after receiving reports of a rollover crash involving a vehicle fire.
Investigators said a northbound SUV driven by 40-year-old Morgan Gliedman of Cohocton abruptly crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a southbound pickup truck towing a fifth-wheel camper. A second southbound SUV then struck the camper, causing Gliedman’s SUV to roll over.
Authorities said the driver of the second SUV exited their vehicle and rescued Gliedman and her two children before the SUV became engulfed in flames. The pickup truck and Gliedman’s SUV both caught fire following the collision.
The driver of the pickup, 71-year-old Brian Johnson of Naples, was pronounced dead at the scene. His two dogs also died in the crash. An uninvolved motorist rescued Johnson’s wife from the burning truck. She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with leg fractures and is expected to recover.
Gliedman was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Her two children suffered minor injuries, and the driver of the second SUV also sustained minor injuries.
