Coral Springs, FL (June 20, 2026) – A man was killed following a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Coral Ridge Drive and Wiles Road in Coral Springs on Thursday afternoon, June 18.

Emergency units responded to the scene after the crash was reported at approximately 1:44 p.m. Aerial footage from the area showed a maroon SUV with deployed airbags stopped near the intersection and a motorcycle lying on its side nearby.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was a man, but his identity has not yet been released. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional details about the events leading up to the crash were not immediately available.

The collision caused the closure of all westbound lanes on Wiles Road from NW 110th Avenue to Coral Ridge Drive while crews worked at the scene and the crash was reviewed.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Why Motorcycle Crashes Can Result in Serious Injuries

Motorcycle crashes can be especially dangerous because riders have less protection than people inside passenger vehicles. Unlike cars and SUVs, motorcycles do not have a protective frame around the rider, making impacts with other vehicles or the roadway more severe.

Factors such as vehicle speed, visibility, road conditions, and driver awareness can affect the outcome of a motorcycle crash. Intersections can be particularly risky because drivers must watch for vehicles traveling from multiple directions, including smaller vehicles that may be harder to notice.

Safety equipment such as helmets, protective clothing, and proper riding gear can help reduce the severity of injuries during a crash. Road users sharing the same space can also reduce risks by remaining alert and allowing enough distance for unexpected situations.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
