Why Large Truck Crashes Can Cause Major Road Closures
Crashes involving large commercial trucks require extended response times due to the vehicles’ size and weight. Overturned trucks can block multiple lanes, create hazards from spilled materials, and require specialized equipment for removal.
Emergency crews may need to stabilize the vehicle, assist anyone trapped inside, and inspect the roadway before traffic can safely resume. Clearing a large-truck crash can take longer than a typical vehicle accident because damaged vehicles may require heavy-duty towing equipment.
Truck crashes can happen due to many factors, including roadway conditions, vehicle problems, driver actions, or interactions with other vehicles. Investigators usually review vehicle positions, damage patterns, and available evidence to determine how the collision occurred.
