Safety Tips for Drivers Around Turning Tractor-Trailers
Tractor-trailers need additional room to complete turns because of their size and length. During a turn, a large truck may occupy more than one lane and can take longer to clear an intersection.
Drivers approaching a turning tractor-trailer should reduce speed and allow plenty of space. Staying focused on surrounding traffic can help drivers recognize changes in a truck’s movement and respond safely. Extra caution is also needed when lane closures or detours change the normal flow of traffic.
