Bronx, NY (August 10, 2026) – A man lost his life after being struck by two vehicles, including a marked NYPD vehicle, while lying in a Bronx roadway early on Saturday morning, August 8. The incident occurred near College Avenue and East 166th Street in Morrisania.
Detectives said the unidentified man had been involved in a physical altercation with another person near 1059 College Avenue at about 3:47 a.m. After the altercation, the man was found unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway at the northwest corner of College Avenue and East 166th Street. About 10 minutes later, a white BMW SUV traveling east on East 166th Street struck him, according to the preliminary investigation.
The BMW driver left the scene following the collision. A marked NYPD vehicle traveling east on East 166th Street then struck the man while he remained in the roadway. The officer driving the NYPD vehicle stopped and provided aid. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made, and his identity has not been released.
