Manchester, CT (March 6, 2026) – A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle on Wednesday morning, March 4, caused major damage along Interstate 84 westbound in Manchester.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. near Exit 62 in the HOV lane. Reports indicate the tractor-trailer struck another vehicle before crashing through a barrier on an overpass about 50 feet above the ground.
Both vehicles suffered significant damage during the collision. Despite the impact and damage to the barrier, neither vehicle fell from the overpass.
Emergency units arrived at the scene and evaluated the people involved. One person was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A second person involved in the crash declined medical transport after being evaluated at the scene. No one required extrication from the damaged vehicles.
Crews also responded to a large oil spill caused by the crash. Environmental workers addressed the spill while transportation officials examined the overpass and began repairs to the damaged barrier.
The vehicles were later removed from the scene, allowing cleanup and repairs to continue.
