Why Are UTV Crashes Often Severe?
Utility terrain vehicles are commonly used on rural roads and farmland. Unlike standard passenger vehicles, many UTVs offer limited protection and may lack full enclosures.
When a UTV overturns, the risk of ejection increases, especially if occupants are not secured. Being thrown from a vehicle can lead to fatal injuries.
Intersections on rural roads may lack traffic signals or stoplights. Drivers approaching from different directions must rely on signs and visibility to judge right of way, which can increase the chance of a collision.
