Mesa, AZ (January 19, 2026) – A Saturday morning collision involving two vehicles caused traffic disruptions and left multiple people injured near the intersection of W University Dr and N Standage in Mesa, authorities confirmed.
The incident was reported around 8:57 a.m. on January 17. A red sports car and a silver SUV collided at the intersection, prompting a response from Mesa Fire and Police personnel. Initial concerns about smoke at the scene were later determined to be non-threatening, but the crash did result in multiple injuries.
Emergency crews provided care to several individuals complaining of back pain and other general injuries. Although none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, medical treatment was administered on-site, and further evaluation was expected for those affected.
The crash caused several lanes to be blocked in both directions, leading to significant traffic delays in the area. Officers remained on scene for an extended period, directing traffic and overseeing cleanup operations.
