Miami Township, OH (May 6, 2026) – Three people were injured late Monday night following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Springboro Pike (SR-741) and Austin Blvd in Miami Township.
Emergency units responded to the intersection around 11:50 p.m. after reports of a serious collision involving a 2026 Hyundai Elantra and a 2014 Honda Odyssey. The crash temporarily shut down the intersection for about an hour while crews assisted those involved and cleared the scene.
Investigators said a 22-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was traveling eastbound on Austin Blvd. when she entered the intersection against a red light. At the same time, a 48-year-old man driving the Honda Odyssey was heading southbound on SR-741 with a green light.
The Hyundai struck the Honda, resulting in injuries to three people. Officials have not released the identities of the injured or detailed the extent of their injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they recover.
How Red-Light Crashes Often Lead to Serious Intersection Collisions
Crashes caused by red-light violations frequently happen at busy intersections where vehicles are moving in multiple directions at once. These collisions can be especially severe because drivers with the right of way may have little time to react.
Side-impact crashes are common in these situations and can cause significant vehicle damage even at moderate speeds. Traffic signals, lane visibility, and driver attention are often reviewed during the investigation process.
Late-night crashes may also involve reduced visibility and lighter traffic, which can affect drivers’ judgment at intersections.
