Kenosha, WI (June 17, 2026) – A 20-year-old man died after a crash involving a minibike and a box truck near 60th Street and 13th Avenue in Kenosha on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the collision happened around 12:16 p.m. Initial reports suggested a child may have been struck, but officers arrived and found a 20-year-old Kenosha resident involved in the crash.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police said he was the only person hurt in the collision.
Investigators said evidence from video footage and witness statements showed the man was riding a non-street-legal minibike westbound on 60th Street. At the same time, a box truck traveling westbound began turning north onto 13th Avenue, and the minibike collided with the truck.
The box truck driver remained at the site and is cooperating with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the wreck. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Safety Considerations for Minibikes on Public Roads
Minibikes and similar off-road vehicles can pose safety risks when used on roads designed for regular traffic. Many of these vehicles are built for private property or recreational use and may not have the equipment required for public road travel.
Because minibikes are smaller than cars and trucks, they can be harder for other drivers to notice, especially at intersections and during turns. Differences in size, speed, and visibility can increase risks when these vehicles share roadways with larger vehicles.
Drivers and riders both rely on clear visibility and predictable movements to avoid collisions. Understanding where certain vehicles are permitted and following roadway rules can help reduce the chance of serious crashes involving smaller motorized vehicles.
