Merced County, CA (July 18, 2026) – A two-vehicle traffic accident resulting in minor injuries was reported on Friday afternoon on southbound I-5 just south of the Herndon Rd exit in Merced County. The collision was reported at approximately 3:45 p.m. on July 17.
Initial dispatch information included conflicting reports about whether anyone had been hurt. The report was later updated to confirm minor injuries involving two vehicles. A Ford Mustang and a Toyota were among the vehicles involved, and both required towing because of damage.
The vehicles were moved onto the right shoulder before the roadway was cleared. The identities of those involved and the number of people hurt have not been released.
