How Do Highway Crashes Lead to Severe Outcomes?
Routes carrying regional traffic near Highway 93 and the Wye can experience delays after accidents, especially when vehicles are moving at higher speeds. Crews in Missoula often focus on clearing hazards and maintaining safe traffic flow during these incidents.
Highway crashes tend to result in more serious outcomes due to the speed of travel and the force of impact. Even a single mistake, such as drifting from a lane or misjudging distance, can quickly lead to a dangerous situation.
Road conditions, visibility, and traffic volume all influence how these crashes unfold. When vehicles are traveling at highway speeds, drivers have less time to react, which can increase the severity of injuries in a collision.
