Why Do Multi-Vehicle Crashes on I-270 Often Lead to Multiple Injuries?
I-270 is one of the busiest highways in Montgomery County, especially during late afternoon hours. Heavy traffic and frequent merging near exits like 6B can increase the risk of collisions when drivers slow down or change lanes unexpectedly.
When two vehicles collide at highway speeds, even a brief loss of control can result in injuries to several occupants. Sudden stops and chain-reaction movements may cause additional harm inside the vehicle, even if the crash involves only two cars.
Blocked lanes can also create secondary risks as approaching drivers encounter slowed or stopped traffic. Keeping a safe following distance and staying alert to changing road conditions can help reduce the chances of serious injury in high-traffic areas.
