Waterbury, CT (June 17, 2026) – An 18-year-old moped rider was seriously hurt on Monday evening, June 15, after an accident involving a pickup truck in Waterbury.
The police were called at 6:51 p.m. to the 1000 block of Meriden Road for a report of a vehicle and moped collision. Investigators said the pickup truck driver was attempting to turn into a private driveway when the pickup and moped collided.
The moped rider had serious internal injuries; he was brought to a hospital in critical condition but was later listed as stable. The 65-year-old pickup truck driver from Cheshire was not hurt and did not need medical attention. No additional injuries were reported in the initial update.
The Waterbury crash remains under review by the department’s reconstruction team as investigators work to confirm the full sequence.
