Devore, CA (September 6, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision blocked the northbound Interstate 215 connector to southbound Interstate 15 at about 10:48 a.m. on Friday, September 4.
Initial CHP entries identified a black Honda Civic and a white Jeep. Both vehicles were reported facing sideways, with the Jeep later described as facing the wrong direction. A subsequent update indicated that three vehicles were involved.
All lanes were temporarily stopped while emergency units worked along the connector. The call was upgraded from no reported injuries to one requiring medical assistance.
The vehicles were later moved into the center divider, with the number one lane remaining blocked. A tow truck was requested for the Honda.
Investigators continue reviewing the crash. We hope anyone injured makes a full recovery.
Why Can Sideways Vehicles Shut Down a Freeway Connector?
Connector ramps often provide fewer lanes and less shoulder space than the main freeway. A vehicle stopped sideways can span much of the available pavement, leaving approaching motorists without a safe route around it.
A wrong-facing vehicle creates another hazard because its position is unexpected and may require more room for towing equipment to reach it. Curves and barriers can further restrict sight distance and maneuvering space.
Temporary traffic holds allow crews to reach occupants, move vehicles, and establish a safer work zone. Even after some lanes reopen, delays can continue as backed-up traffic begins moving through the narrowed connector. Vehicle position, towing access, debris, and traffic volume all affect how quickly normal travel can resume.
