Watsonville, CA (September 6, 2026) – Three people were hurt after a vehicle struck two parked cars and then crashed into a business on Freedom Boulevard. The incident happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. in the 1800 block on Friday, September 4.
The Toyota 4Runner first hit two parked vehicles across the street before continuing into the business. The crash caused significant damage to the building, and one person was initially reported trapped beneath the vehicle. The driver, 73-year-old Edwin Wetterstrom, remained inside the 4Runner when emergency units arrived.
Wetterstrom and one other person were taken to a hospital, while a third person received medical attention at the scene. Everyone was expected to be okay. Wetterstrom was arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of DUI causing serious bodily injury. We wish all those injured a speedy recovery.
