Los Angeles, CA (September 6, 2026) – A four-vehicle collision was reported on eastbound State Route 60 near the connector to southbound Interstate 5 at about 8:34 a.m. on Friday, September 4.
The California Highway Patrol log identified a Chevrolet van, a Toyota Tacoma, a Toyota Camry, and a UPS truck. Vehicles initially blocked several middle lanes, and by about 8:54 a.m., all lanes were reported closed.
Medical assistance was requested, but the dispatch record did not state how many people were injured. Four tow trucks were also requested to help clear the roadway.
Lanes one and two had reopened by about 9:17 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under review. We hope anyone hurt recovers fully.
Multi-Vehicle Freeway Blockages Can Require Extensive Clearance Work
Several disabled vehicles can spread across multiple lanes after roadway contact, leaving little room for traffic to pass. Large vehicles such as vans and delivery trucks may also require more space for towing and repositioning.
A full closure can give emergency units room to reach occupants, remove debris, and position tow equipment without passing traffic nearby. When several vehicles need to be removed, crews may have to clear them one at a time.
Traffic can remain congested even after some lanes reopen because vehicles have already accumulated behind the blockage. Tow-truck access, vehicle position, debris, and heavy morning traffic can all affect how quickly normal freeway movement returns.
