Riders Face Serious Dangers in Motorcycle and Bicycle Crashes
Crashes involving motorcycles and bicycles can be serious because both riders have limited protection. Even without a larger vehicle involved, the force of contact may lead to head trauma, broken bones, road rash, or internal injuries.
Nighttime crashes may create added concerns for visibility. Street lighting, headlights, parked vehicles, and intersection layout may affect how quickly riders see each other and react.
When two people require urgent medical transport, investigators frequently review travel direction, speed, lighting, lane position, damage, and roadway evidence. These details help officials understand how the crash happened and whether road conditions contributed.
