San Jose, CA (June 11, 2026) – A major traffic collision involving multiple vehicles and two motorcycles was reported on Wednesday morning, June 10, on northbound State Route 85 near Camden Avenue in San Jose.

According to dispatch information, the wreck was first reported around 6:57 a.m. Early reports indicated a motorcycle rider was down in the center divider, and several lanes were blocked as emergency units worked on the roadway.

Officials later confirmed the crash involved at least three vehicles and two motorcycles. One rider was reportedly lying in the center divider following the chain-reaction collision. Additional reports noted a separate two-vehicle crash nearby on the right-hand shoulder involving a green Subaru Outback and a black Toyota Corolla, though those drivers were reportedly exchanging information and did not request assistance.

Tow crews were later requested for one of the motorcycles, and the situation was upgraded to a major injury crash shortly before 7:45 a.m. Further details about those injured have not yet been released. Investigators are still working to determine exactly what led up to the morning collision.

We hope those hurt in the crash make a full and speedy recovery.

What Factors Are Often Reviewed After a Multi-Vehicle Motorcycle Crash?

When a motorcycle collision involves several vehicles, investigators typically examine roadway positioning, traffic flow, and how each vehicle was moving before contact occurred. Lane changes, following distance, and visibility can all become part of the review, especially during busy morning travel periods.

Motorcycles are usually harder for drivers to spot in congested traffic, particularly when vehicles are moving at different speeds or changing lanes frequently. Road conditions, braking patterns, and vehicle damage may also help clarify how the sequence unfolded. In crashes involving riders, protective gear and helmet use are commonly documented as part of the overall review process.

Traffic camera footage, witness statements, and physical evidence from the highway can also provide additional context while details continue to be gathered.
