Why Motorcycle–Truck Collisions Can Be Especially Severe
Crashes involving motorcycles and semi-trucks often result in fatal outcomes due to the significant difference in size and weight between the vehicles. Motorcycles offer limited protection, which increases the likelihood of catastrophic injury when a collision occurs.
These crashes frequently involve visibility challenges, lane positioning issues, or timing misjudgments in traffic flow. Even small changes in speed or direction can create dangerous conditions when a motorcycle and a large commercial vehicle share the same roadway.
Investigators typically analyze travel direction, roadway markings, and vehicle positioning to reconstruct how the collision occurred. They also review physical evidence and witness accounts to determine how the motorcycle entered the truck’s path and what factors may have contributed to the impact.
