Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes Bring Serious Roadway Risks
Left-turn crashes involving motorcycles can be severe because riders have little protection when a vehicle enters or crosses their path. Even when both drivers are using the same road, a turn at an intersection can create a short window for reaction.
Motorcycles are also smaller than passenger vehicles, which may make judging distance and speed more difficult. A rider approaching from the opposite direction may be harder to notice, especially near curves, hills, or changing light.
Reports in these crashes may review turn timing, travel direction, sight lines, vehicle speed, and the point of contact. Medical updates may also take time when more than one person is hurt. These details help explain how a turn-related collision led to a fatal ending.
