Blount County, TN (May 21, 2026) – Two people lost their lives on Wednesday morning after a three-wheeled motorcycle went off Highway 129 near mile marker 5 in Blount County.
According to preliminary information from troopers, 59-year-old Eduardo Falcone of Florida was driving a Harley Davidson Trike southbound around 11:49 a.m. on May 20. Investigators said the motorcycle failed to stay within its lane while entering a sharp curve and traveled into an embankment before stopping partially in the northbound lane.
Both people on the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. The identity of the second person has not yet been released.
Further details about the accident had not been made public as of Thursday morning, but troopers are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the deadly roadway departure.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends grieving this loss.
Why Sharp Curves Can Be Dangerous for Motorcyclists on Mountain Roads
Roads with steep grades and tight curves can present serious challenges for motorcycle riders, especially on narrow mountain highways. Changes in elevation, limited shoulder space, and reduced visibility around bends can leave little room for correction if a rider drifts outside a lane.
Three-wheeled motorcycles handle differently from standard two-wheel bikes, particularly when entering curves at higher speeds. Riders may need extra distance to adjust steering and maintain balance through winding sections of roadway. Surface conditions such as gravel, uneven pavement, or moisture can also affect traction.
Helmet use can reduce the risk of severe head trauma, though serious injuries may still occur during high-speed roadway departures. Investigators usually review tire marks, road alignment, and vehicle positioning to help determine how a motorcycle left the pavement.
