Why Intersections Can Be Especially Dangerous for Motorcyclists
Intersections are among the most common places for serious motorcycle wrecks to occur. Drivers turning across traffic may not always notice motorcycles approaching, especially during evening hours or in areas with limited visibility. Because motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles, judging their speed and distance can also be more difficult.
Protective gear can reduce some injuries, but riders remain more exposed during a collision than those inside passenger vehicles. Road conditions, traffic flow, and sudden lane changes may also increase danger at busy crossings. After a serious motorcycle wreck, investigators often review traffic signals, vehicle positioning, witness statements, and roadway markings to help piece together how the chain of events unfolded.
