What Makes Motorcycle Crashes More Likely to Cause Serious Injuries?
Motorcycles provide riders with less physical protection than passenger vehicles. As a result, a collision can cause serious injuries even when the motorcycle itself appears relatively small or lightly damaged.
Several factors can affect the severity of a motorcycle crash. Vehicle speed, roadway conditions, visibility, traffic patterns, protective equipment, and the point of contact can all influence the outcome.
Medical treatment after a serious motorcycle crash may involve evaluation for injuries that are not immediately obvious. Doctors may monitor the rider for signs of head, spinal, chest, or internal injuries while determining the appropriate course of care.
