Reno, NV (August 17, 2026) – A man suffered life-threatening injuries on Saturday, August 15, after a motorcycle and SUV crashed on northbound U.S. 395 near Stead Boulevard in Reno.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said troopers responded to the crash at approximately 10:20 a.m. One man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Northbound U.S. 395 was closed between Lemmon Drive and Stead Boulevard while authorities responded to the crash. Drivers were able to re-enter northbound U.S. 395 at Stead Boulevard, and the closure was expected to last two to four hours.

Our thoughts are with the injured man and his loved ones during this difficult time. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Motorcycle Crash Safety Tips for Drivers and Riders

Motorcycles provide less physical protection than passenger vehicles, making riders especially vulnerable in a crash. Even when a rider wears protective equipment, collisions with larger vehicles can result in serious injuries. Drivers should remember that motorcycles can be smaller and harder to see in traffic.

Motorists should carefully check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or turning. Leaving enough following distance gives drivers more time to recognize a motorcycle and respond to sudden changes in traffic. Staying focused on the roadway and avoiding distractions can also improve awareness.

Motorcyclists can reduce their risks by wearing a properly fitted helmet and protective gear. Maintaining a safe speed, using headlights when appropriate, and positioning the motorcycle so it remains visible to other drivers can enhance safety. Extra caution is important near highway entrances, exits, and intersections where traffic patterns can change quickly.
