Sarasota County, FL (July 24, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving at least five vehicles forced the closure of all northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County on Friday afternoon.
The collision occurred before Mile Marker 211. Initial reports indicated the vehicles involved included a white van, a Mazda SUV, and a white sedan that caught fire, along with two additional vehicles. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene as crews worked to reach those involved.
Traffic was temporarily stopped to allow emergency units to travel the wrong way in the southbound median and access the crash site. All northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down during the emergency response. Information regarding the number of people injured or the severity of any injuries had not been released at the time of publication.
Investigators are continuing to determine what led to the collision.
