What Happens When a Major Crash Causes Multiple Injuries?
A major roadway crash can require several emergency units when multiple people need medical evaluation or transportation. Crews may assess injured people at the scene and determine which patients require ambulance transport or treatment at a trauma center.
Road closures can provide emergency personnel with space to work safely and allow medical crews to move patients without interference from traffic. Investigators may later examine vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness accounts, and other available information to determine how the collision occurred.
