How Do Car and ATV Crashes Happen on City Streets?
Mixed-use streets like West Iowa Avenue often see a combination of regular vehicles and smaller motorized vehicles such as ATVs. These different vehicle types can travel at varying speeds and have different visibility, which may increase the chance of a collision.
Turning movements, including U-turns, can create added risk when drivers misjudge distance or fail to see approaching vehicles. Smaller vehicles, such as ATVs, may be harder to spot, especially in busy or rapidly changing traffic conditions.
Crashes involving ATVs and cars can result in injuries because ATVs offer limited protection. Road awareness, clear visibility, and cautious turning behavior can all help reduce the likelihood of these incidents.
