Dinwiddie Co., VA (July 29, 2026) – A 41-year-old motorcyclist died Monday night, July 27, following a three-vehicle collision on Boydton Plank Road. The accident happened around 7:57 p.m. in the 6800 block of Route 1.

A 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe was attempting a left turn when it entered the path of a northbound 2002 Kawasaki. The motorcycle then left the roadway and struck a 2019 Honda Accord exiting a parking lot.

The rider, identified as Tyrone M. Cooper of North Dinwiddie, was pronounced dead.

The Tahoe driver was charged with failure to yield while turning left and driving with a revoked or suspended license.

Authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the fatality. Our deepest condolences go to Cooper’s family and loved ones as they mourn his loss.

How Vehicle Turning Movements Can Cause Severe Harm

A left-turning vehicle may cross directly in front of an approaching motorcycle. Riders can have very little time to brake or change direction once their path becomes blocked. This risk increases on roads where traffic moves at higher speeds.

Motorcycles also have a narrow profile, which can make their distance and speed difficult to judge. Nearby cars, shadows, road curves, and evening light may further affect how quickly a rider is noticed.

Unlike occupants inside passenger vehicles, motorcyclists lack a protective cabin, seat belts, and airbags. A rider may experience force from the first contact and then strike the pavement or another vehicle. Speed, vehicle size, and contact angle can influence the severity of head, chest, spinal, and limb trauma.

2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
