What Investigators Often Review After Left-Turn Collisions
Left-turn crashes frequently occur when two vehicles approach an intersection or side street at the same time, and one driver attempts to cross opposing traffic. These collisions can become severe because the side of a vehicle may absorb much of the force during contact.
Investigators often examine vehicle speeds, traffic flow, and visibility at the intersection to better understand how the collision unfolded. Road lighting and driver reaction time may also be reviewed, especially during nighttime hours.
Damage patterns, tire marks, and final vehicle positions can help reconstruct the moments leading up to the crash. In some cases, witness accounts or nearby surveillance footage provide additional details about how the vehicles approached the intersection before the collision occurred.
