NORCO, Riverside County, Calif., Oct. 23, 2026 — Multiple vehicles collided Thursday morning, October 22, on northbound Interstate 15 near 6th Street, blocking lanes of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the crash was first reported around 7:41 a.m. as a two-vehicle wreck creating a hazard in the number one lane. Within minutes, dispatch logs show the count had grown to three vehicles involved, including a white Volkswagen Golf, a gray sedan and a black Toyota, with at least one car blocking the lane.
By 7:48 a.m., a motorist on scene reported a separate collision between a white Toyota Camry and a white Volkswagen Taos SUV in the same lane, with a blue vehicle stopped on the right shoulder. The California Highway Patrol then reclassified the incident from a non-injury crash to one involving injuries and possible entrapment.
Officers at the scene said just before 8 a.m. that they could not move some of the vehicles and that the first and second lanes remained blocked. A tow rotation request called for a flatbed capable of handling two vehicles, with a second flatbed requested in case more were needed.
The crash remains under review. We wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do chain-reaction crashes happen?
They typically start when one vehicle slows or stops suddenly and the vehicles behind it can't react in time, especially in heavy highway traffic where following distances are already tight.
How can drivers avoid being caught in a pile-up?
Keeping a longer following distance, watching brake lights several cars ahead, and slowing down early when traffic bunches up can give drivers more time to react.
What should I do if I'm stopped near a crash on the highway?
Stay in your vehicle with your seatbelt on if it's safe to do so, turn on hazard lights, and watch for instructions from arriving officers before getting out near moving lanes.
What to Do After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Norco, CA
If you're involved in a multi-vehicle crash, try to move to the shoulder only if your vehicle is drivable and it's safe to do so. Check yourself and passengers for injuries, and call 911 even if injuries seem minor, since some symptoms show up later. Exchange information with other drivers when possible, and get checked by a medical provider the same day if you were in a vehicle that was struck or came to a sudden stop. Keep a record of the responding agency and incident number for your own files.
