Why Wrong-Way Crashes on Freeways Are Often Severe
Wrong-way crashes on freeways often result in serious outcomes due to high speeds and opposing traffic flow. When vehicles collide head-on, the combined force can cause significant damage and increase the risk of fatal injuries.
These incidents may involve more than one vehicle, especially if nearby drivers are unable to avoid the initial impact. Even a secondary collision can lead to additional injuries or damage.
Factors such as impaired driving, confusion at ramps, or reduced visibility in the early morning can contribute to wrong-way driving. The speed and direction involved make these crashes particularly dangerous.
