OAKLAND, Alameda County, Calif., Nov. 3, 2026 — A two-vehicle crash on northbound State Route 13 at the Park Boulevard off-ramp left at least one person with serious injuries on Monday morning, November 2, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly after 9 a.m. near the Park Boulevard off-ramp, involving a gray Honda CR-V and a black Lexus sedan, the CHP said. The collision blocked a lane of traffic, and crews moved the vehicles to the right shoulder near the off-ramp as responders worked the scene.
The CHP initially logged the crash as involving injuries of unknown severity before upgrading it to a major-injury collision later that morning. A tow truck was called to remove the Honda from the scene.
The incident has been closed out by both the CHP and Freeway Service Patrol. Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and we wish them a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What typically causes crashes like this one?
Collisions at freeway off-ramps are commonly linked to sudden speed changes, following too closely, or drivers misjudging merging traffic as they exit.
How does speed affect the severity of a crash?
Higher speeds reduce the time drivers have to react and increase the force of impact, which usually means more serious injuries even in a two-vehicle collision.
Why is distracted driving a particular risk near exits and off-ramps?
Off-ramps require quick decisions about lane position and speed. A driver who is distracted for even a few seconds may miss a slowing vehicle ahead or a merge point, increasing the chance of a crash.
Me what role do road and weather conditions play in these crashes?
Wet pavement, poor visibility, or uneven road surfaces can affect how quickly a vehicle can slow down or change lanes, especially in off-ramp areas where traffic is already converging.
