Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving a common factor in crashes like this?
Even glances away from the road can prevent a driver from reacting in time to merging traffic or sudden slowdowns, which is why distraction is frequently cited as a factor in rear-end and lane-change collisions.
What should someone do immediately after a hit-and-run crash?
Move to a safe location if possible, call 911, and try to note details about the other vehicle, such as its color, make, and direction of travel, since that information can help investigators identify the driver later.
Where do most highway crashes like this happen?
Crashes frequently cluster near highway interchanges, merge points, and off-ramps, where vehicles are changing speed or lanes, similar to the stretch of SR-13 near Redwood Road.
