What Factors Can Contribute to Intersection Crashes?
Intersections bring together traffic from different directions, which can increase the chance of a crash if drivers do not yield or misjudge timing. Even with traffic controls in place, a brief delay in reaction can lead to a collision.
Speeds at intersections also affect the outcome. When vehicles enter from different directions at similar times, the force of impact can be strong, especially if one vehicle does not slow down.
Passenger safety can vary depending on seat position and impact angle. In some cases, occupants may be thrown from the vehicle if restraints are not properly used, which can lead to more severe injuries during a crash.
