Why Pedestrian Crashes Between Parked Vehicles Can Be Dangerous
Pedestrian collisions involving parked vehicles often happen because drivers have limited visibility when someone suddenly enters the roadway. Parked vehicles can block sightlines for both pedestrians and approaching drivers, reducing reaction time.
Investigators reviewing these crashes typically examine lighting conditions, vehicle speed, roadway design, and the pedestrian’s entry into traffic. They may also review whether crosswalks or designated crossing areas were nearby.
Nighttime conditions can reduce visibility, especially on streets with parked vehicles lining both sides of the roadway. Evidence such as vehicle damage, skid marks, and witness statements helps investigators understand how the collision occurred.
