Miami Beach, FL (June 18, 2026) – One person was critically injured on Wednesday evening, June 17, after a crash at an intersection in Miami Beach.

The accident happened at 9th Street and Meridian Avenue, according to Miami Beach Police officials. The injured person was identified as a female Miami Beach Police officer.

The officer was brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Video from the site showed investigators near what appeared to be a Miami Beach Police all-terrain vehicle.

No additional injuries were mentioned in the initial report. Further details about how the collision happened were not immediately released.

We hope the injured officer receives the care she needs and recovers fully.

Traffic Crossings Can Bring Added Dangers for Riders

Intersection crashes can become severe because vehicles, pedestrians, and smaller motorized units may all move through the same space. Drivers may be turning, stopping, or crossing at the same time, which can leave little room for error.

Visibility can also change quickly at city intersections. Buildings, parked vehicles, traffic signals, and nighttime lighting may affect how soon someone sees another vehicle or hazard. Even a low-speed crash can cause serious harm when a rider or operator has less protection than someone inside a passenger vehicle.

After a severe intersection accident, reviews usually focus on travel direction, traffic signal timing, roadway layout, visibility, and where each vehicle was before contact. These details can help explain how the crash occurred.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
