Chicago, IL (June 26, 2026) – A 26-year-old woman lost her life, and five other people were hurt following a boat collision near Monroe Harbor late on Wednesday night. The crash occurred shortly before midnight near S. DuSable Lake Shore Dr and E. Monroe.
Two boats collided on Lake Michigan, prompting a large emergency response along the waterfront. Five people were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries, while four others declined medical treatment.
The Cook County Medical Examiner said one of the people taken to a hospital, a 26-year-old woman, later died. Photos from the scene showed one of the boats with extensive damage after the collision.
The identities of the other people involved had not been released at the time of publication. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
